Buhari writes Senate for another medical vacation

In less than two years since his inauguration on May 29, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari is seeking another medical vacation,
The president on Tuesday wrote the Senate informing the red chamber that he is taking a ten-day medical vacation from  Monday January, 23 to February 6th, 2017.
According to the letter read out at Senate plenary by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo will be acting president for the duration of the president’s vacation.
Buhari’s letter read, “In compliance with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 constitution as amended, I wish to inform the Distinguished Senate that I will be away on a short medical vacation from Monday January, 23 to February 6th, 2017 and while I am away, the Vice President (Osinbajo) will perform the functions of my office.
“Please, accept, as always assurances of my highest esteemed consideration.”
The letter however did not indicate if the vacation will be within Nigeria, or is to be spent outside the country.
Recall that President Buhari had also last year written the Senate to go on a short medical vacation from 6th-16th of June, 2016.
The President however, in a short statement by Mr Femi Adesina, his special adviser on media and Publicity on Thursday disclosed that the vacation is to be spent in the United Kingdom.
According to him, Buhari “leaves for the United Kingdom today on a short leave, which is part of his annual vacation. He is expected to resume work on February 6, 2017.
“During the vacation, the President will also undergo routine medical check-ups”, he said.
